About
Bulgarian Rose Oil and Rose Water
last updated:Jan. 15, 2008

Bulgaria
is the world's leading producer of rose oil, a
key ingredient in high-quality perfumes. Roses are grown in the country's
famous Valley of the Roses in central Bulgaria. This began as a cottage
industry in the early 19th century; now Bulgaria exports almost all of
its rose oil to the Unite Sates, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria,
the Netherlands, and Japan. Bulgarian rose oil is more costly than rival
products from Turkey, Morocco, and China because of its high quality.
The scent of the Bulgarian rose used to make the oil is unsurpassable.
